Me and my dad/co-producer/manager/wizardman decided to get the single mastered at Abbey Road Studios because… well… it’s Abbey Road Studios! DUH!!!
It was A VERY COOL DAY!
We got there 20 minutes early like the eager beavers that we are which was the BEST THING EVER because we then got a full tour of the studios from our mastering engineer Alex who gave us the full history of each room and told us some amaaazing stories about various recording sessions done by some of my idols!
Dad and Alex nerded OUT about all the old equipment which to be honest just looked like old tumble driers to me… but from their enthusiastic babble I assume they were not.
We then watched him do his mastering magic, which is basically bringing the volume of everything up in a very clever way to make the song go “BAM” in your face even on the shittiest of speakers, so basically its a VERY IMPORTANT JOB and one that I had never really even slightly understood before. (I’m sure I just explained that technically perfectly…)
Hearing my song that I wrote, recorded, produced and arranged all in my living room on their MASSIVE, RIDICULOUS SPEAKERS was one of those “wooow.. I MADE that” moments.
Can’t wait to go back to master the whole album!!!
